In order to help the elderly better use and master smartphones and increase the happiness index of their daily life, the volunteer team of the Volunteer Association of the School of Business Administration of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law carried out the cell phone classroom activity with the theme of “Young Volunteers Bridge the Digital Divide for Seniors” in 701 Community of Shouyi Road Street. The cell phone classroom activity officially started on November 23rd, and the volunteers went to the community every Thursday afternoon to conduct a two-hour lesson.
The class combines lecturers' explanations with one-on-one teaching by volunteers, and adopts the methods of answering questions and solving problems after the class and reviewing in time to consolidate the knowledge learned in the class and help the elderly better master the use of relevant software. After the class, they actively shared their learning results and the volunteers answered questions and clarifications in a timely manner, which gained the unanimous praise of the elderly for the cell phone classroom activity and their good wishes and expectations for the young volunteers.
The cell phone classroom activity was also widely recognized by the society, and was reported by many media such as Hubei Radio and Television Station and Wuchang Civilization Network. This also made more people know about the cell phone classroom activity and the inconvenience of using smart devices for the elderly, thus promoting the formation of a good culture of helping the elderly, loving the elderly, caring for the society and serving the society.
This semester's Youth Entering the Community, Crossing the Divide in Aging cell phone classroom activity came to an end in laughter. This voluntary activity not only enriched the spiritual and cultural needs of the elderly and brought them joy, but also conveyed the love and warmth of the young generation for the elderly, and conveyed a good culture of respecting, honoring, loving and helping the elderly to the society.
